Taking Flight - 24"x36" Original Framed

The lonely relics of farm equipment in the winter fields offer great backdrops for a painting. I'm often drawn to these kinds of contrasts between man made structures and wildlife. Although there wasn't an owl flying in front of this old haying rake at the time, I could imaging one gliding past at just a few feet above the ground. With thanks from wildlife photographer Ron Dudley and his photo of a barn owl, I found the perfect subject for this composition. This is also happened to be the largest painting I have ever attempted and was both a challenge and a lot of fun to work on. I hope you like it!
