Red Alert - 18"x24" -Sold-
One of my favourite places to observe birds of prey and to gather reference material for future painting projects is the Canadian Raptor Conservancy in Vittoria Ontario. This beautiful Red-Tailed Hawk was one of their birds on display that I took numerous pictures of but it was late spring and the background for most of my pictures was predominately green and drab looking. I decided to paint this hawk against a backdrop of fall in it's final stages with most of the leaves having turned colour or fallen to the ground. I always find this an interesting time of year as you are now able to see through the trees and see wildlife that would normally be hidden. I also decided to add a cedar rail fence to serve as a perch with the appearance of the hawk ready to take flight.
