This painting is of a Vermilion Flycatcher. We saw this little guy on our camping trip to Florida last year. Folks at the State Park visitor centre told us about this little bird being blown in from the latest storm and that if we went to this one spot in the park, we would be able to see it. Sure enough, there he was. With his bright red/orange plumage he wasn't difficult to spot as he flitted from one bush to another. The colours reminded me of the glowing embers of our campfire as they oscillate from yellow to orange to flaming red.
