The American Kestrel, the smallest and most common falcon in North America, is often over looked. It's easy to mistake the little bird you might see on the telephone wire as a Mourning Dove or some other large song bird, but more often than not, the Kestrel will be perched their waiting patiently for it's next meal to make itself visible in the long grasses near the fence lines.
